Public Radio Interview “How to Talk About Death”

In an interview with Evan Dawson on WXXI Public Radio, our conversation explored Death Cafés—what they are, what they aren’t, and why open, agenda-free discussions about death and dying are so important in community, educational, and workplace settings. We also talked about my work as a death doula and my book, Our Last Walk Home: Love, Cancer, and the Agony of Letting Go, which shares my family’s journey after my husband, Jim, was diagnosed with a rare cancer. By reflecting on our life together as a couple and a family, the book seeks to humanize serious illness and offer comfort and connection, helping others feel less alone as they face their own experiences with loss, grief, and mortality.
